Our platforms
The Department of Medicinal Chemistry provides several high-quality infrastructures for research and education. These are organised in platforms, some of which are part of SciLifeLab. Our platforms offer all researchers access to instruments, services and training.
SCILIFELAB DDDP LEAD IDENTIFICATION
The Lead Identification Facility is part of the national SciLifeLab platform DDDp for drug development (SciLifeLab Drug Discovery and Development Platform). The platform provides academic researchers project support to deliver high-quality compounds and data in order to develop novel drugs.

PRECLINICAL PET-MRI PLATFORM
At the Preclinical PET-MRI Platform, we bridge the gap between basic research in medicinal chemistry and clinical applications of molecular imaging with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Tomography (SPECT), both methods increasingly used in biomedical research.
We develop tracers for preclinical validation, using state-of-the-art in vivo and in vitro methodologies. Our small animal scanners are PET-MRI and SPECT-CT. We also have access to a clinical PET-CT and PET-MRI scanners in collaboration with the Uppsala University Hospital PET Centrum at Akademiska sjukhuset. Our platform is part of a pilot initiative to create a nationally available facility within SciLifeLab.
