The Department welcomes Yassir Al-Tikriti, Anton Norberg and David Juriga

Yassir Al-Tikriti is already well-known at our Department and SweDeliver, after previously conducting his PhD project Microgels as drug delivery vehicles: loading and release of amphiphilic drugs, and defending his thesis June 14, 2022. Yassir Al-Tikriti, a pharmacist with a degree from the University of Baghdad who in 2012 received his Master's degree in Pharmaceutical science at Uppsala University, has during the past year worked as a Pharmaceutical Development & Research Manager at Calliditas Therapeutics AB. We are very happy to once again welcome Yassir, now joining us as Postdoc in Per Hansson's research group in Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry.

Anton Norberg has previous experience from the Faculty of Pharmacy and SweDeliver, as he in the summer of 2021, as one of six very promising students, had the opportunity to do a six-week summer internship at Apotek Produktion & Laboratorier AB – one of the competence center's industrial partners. After graduating from Uppsala University's Master of Science Programme in Pharmacy, Anton has experience from work at Cytiva and Enphasys. We are very pleased to welcome Anton as a PhD student at our department, where he will continue the development of Marcus Wanselius' results in the project Physiochemical Aspects of Subcutaneous Administration of Drugs.

Dávid Juriga joins the faculty of Pharmacy and SweDeliver after having research positions at Semmelweis University and the University of Groningen. At the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Dávid has already begun his work on studying the relationship between the in vitro properties of different subcutaneously administered peptides – that are promising in cancer therapy – and their bioavailability and absorption in vivo. Important results are to be expected and we are very happy to welcome Dávid to our department.

FACTS

• SweDeliver’s research in parenteral drug delivery focuses on the development of new formulations and improved delivery systems for subcutaneous drug administration.
• This research draws on the strong scientific expertise on self-aggregation and molecular interactions within the pharmaceutical physical chemistry group at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry.
