"We are honored to have been accepted to this eminent organization and are looking forward to work with our partners" said Prof. Jean-Luc-Veuthey, president of the Geneva school.

Prof. Gerrit Borchard, ULLA representative for Geneva adds "As a former member of one of the founding institutions of ULLA I am very happy to bring the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Geneva into the fold".

"ULLA is very proud to welcome ISPSO, underlining the cross-European character of our organization. The participation of Geneva University will significantly strengthen the primary aim of the ULLA network: to enhance collaboration within education and research in pharmaceutical sciences between the member universities," says Prof. Hubertus Irth, chairman of the ULLA Executive Committee.

The ULLA institutions are complementary in their research and teaching missions and by coming together, they possess a synergy that allows the consortium to have a greater impact on the European scene. As such, ULLA coordinates joint applications for EU funded research.

In July 2022, the Faculty of Pharmacy welcomes 200 PhD students and 70 researchers from all over Europe to ULLA Summer School, a meeting place that brings together the future leaders in international pharmacy. Since launching in London in 1993, this biannual event has grown into a flagship of the ULLA network - a knowledge consortium that unites ten of Europe's top pharmaceutical research institutes where a well-executed summer school entails invaluable goodwill for the host university.

“Our faculty arranged a digital and much appreciated ULLA Summer School in 2021. Now we have the consortium's trust to host it again this year, which provides us a unique opportunity to create both new and lasting ties. The preparations are far advanced and we meet a great deal of commitment, both within our own faculty and in the ULLA consortium,” says Ulf Göransson, Professor of Pharmacognosy.

  • The consortium was formed in 1992 by the universities of Uppsala, Amsterdam, Leiden and London. Today, another six leading pharmaceutical research institutes have joined the network.
  • The primary aim of the ULLA network is to enhance collaboration within education and research in pharmaceutical sciences between the member universities.
  • To give improved access to the combined resources of the institutions involved, ULLA provides grants for the exchange of MSc students, PhD students, postdocs and staff.
  • ULLA Summer School 2022 will be held July 2-9 and is arranged by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Uppsala University.
