How shall research and society handle the accelerating antibiotic resistance? Uppsala University and KI invite to a conversation with a selection of Sweden's leading experts and opinion leaders. Free admission & Open to the Public.

In 2019, 1.3 million people are estimated to have died as a result of infections caused by resistant bacteria. Add the 40 years that have passed since science last discovered a new antibiotic class to reach the market and it becomes frighteningly clear that mankind is facing an acute challenge where new drugs alone are no longer enough.

Now global and interdisciplinary collaboration is necessary, and in August, Uppsala University and KI welcome researchers from six countries to Sweden and the NorDoc Summer School 2023: Antibiotics According to a New Generation with focus on new methods to handle the accelerating antibiotic resistance.

Friday 18 August, we invite you to the Uppsala University Main Auditorium for Antibiotics • Past, Present. Future. - An open conversation where a selection of Sweden's foremost experts will discuss potential ways forward together with moderator Eva Garmendia, Project coordinator at the Uppsala Antibiotic Center. Welcome!

Please note that this panel discussion will be in English.
